MTCES is sponsoring its first EVER Giving Tuesday on-line event today! We hope to raise $10,000 in 24 hours on social media from 100 people donating $100 each. But gifts of all amounts are welcome! Proceeds will help fund the 15 new classrooms we opened Aug. 31. Won't you help us?
Last Thursday we celebrated a national day for giving thanks. The following Friday and Monday saw two days set aside for getting deals. And today, dawns #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back and helping others. For the past five years, on the Tuesday immediately following Thanksgiving, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world come together for one common purpose - to celebrate generosity by giving. This is especially fitting for our School which was founded in the spirit of Mother Teresa who dedicated her life to serving others.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
A shortage of openings at Catholic elementary schools in the Liberty Township area of Northern Cincinnati led a small group of parents to launch Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School in 1998. They named the school after Mother Teresa, who died the year before the School's opening. These parents hoped that the School would embody and thereby instill the virtues which Mother Teresa lived -- humility, respect, simplicity and dedicated service to others. Today, MTCES is a vibrant community living a spirit of prayer, volunteerism and academic excellence.
Over the past 19 years, enrollment has grown from just 20 students to 495 today. From conducting classes in the basement of a church the first five years, MTCES constructed an 11,000 square-foot facility and added on to it four times to arrive at today's 71,654 square-foot facility on 24 acres. Throughout the years, MTCES has grown for one reason -- the need! There continues to be a need in the area for seats - in Catholic elementary schools in general and in particular in this Christ-centered, loving, academically-challenging and service-oriented School.
